Specialist Teaching

Personalised support to build skills and confidence

I offer specialist teaching for children and young people, up to Year 9, with dyslexia or literacy difficulties. Sessions are designed to develop literacy skills in a structured, supportive and engaging way, while also helping learners to build confidence in their own abilities.

Individual or small group teaching

Specialist teaching can be provided on a one-to-one basis or in a small group of up to four learners with similar areas of difficulty.

Teaching in small groups allows learners to benefit from specialist support alongside their peers, while ensuring that activities and teaching remain focussed on their individual needs.

A structured, multisensory approach

Sessions are structured, multisensory, and cumulative, with new learning building upon previously taught skills.

Lessons follow a familiar and consistent structure, helping to create a predictable learning experience where learners can feel secure and confident. Regular opportunities for repetition, practice, and consolidation are built into each session.

Activities are adapted to meet the needs of the learners and use a range of visual, auditory, and practical approaches to support learning.

Teaching within your school

Specialist teaching is delivered within the school setting, allowing learners to receive support in an environment where they already feel comfortable and familiar.

Delivering sessions in school helps to reduce disruption to the learners’ school day, removing the need for additional travel or appointments outside of school. Sessions can be arranged at a time that works around the school’s timetable and the needs of the learners.

Each session lasts one hour and is delivered weekly.

Pricing

Prices can be discussed and agreed depending on the number of learners, the number of sessions required and the level of support needed.

Specialist teaching sessions typically start from £60 per hour.
