These Terms and Conditions apply to services provided by MB Dyslexia Specialist. By booking a service, you agree to the terms below.
1. Services
MB Dyslexia Specialist offers a range of specialist services, including:
Dyslexia assessments
Access arrangements assessments
Specialist teaching and literacy support
One-to-one and small group teaching
Parent support and guidance
Staff training and support for schools
The details of the service will be discussed and agreed before work begins.
2. Booking
All services are subject to availability.
Before a booking is confirmed, we will discuss your requirements, including the type of service needed, location, dates and costs.
For services booked by a school or organisation, the person making the booking should have the appropriate authority to do so.
3. Fees and Payment
The cost of a service will be agreed before work begins.
Fees may vary depending on:
The type of service required
The length of the assessment or session
The number of learners involved
The number and frequency of sessions
Preparation and reporting required
The location of the service
MB Dyslexia Specialist reserves the right to review and increase its fees from time to time. Any new or revised fees will be communicated before they take effect and before a new service or booking is agreed.
Payment arrangements and invoice due dates will be confirmed when the service is booked.
4. Cancellations and Changes
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please provide as much notice as possible.
MB Dyslexia Specialist does not currently charge a cancellation fee. However, advance notice is appreciated wherever possible, particularly where assessments, teaching sessions or school visits have been arranged.
If MB Dyslexia Specialist needs to cancel or rearrange an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, an alternative date will be offered wherever possible.
5. Dyslexia Assessments
A dyslexia assessment looks at a range of areas to develop a clearer understanding of an individual's learning profile, including their strengths and areas of difficulty.
Following the assessment, a comprehensive written report will be provided. This will explain the findings and include personalised recommendations for appropriate support.
An assessment for dyslexia does not guarantee a diagnosis of dyslexia. A diagnosis will only be given where the assessment findings indicate that the individual meets the relevant criteria.
Recommendations are based on the information and assessment findings available at the time.
6. Access Arrangements Assessments
Access arrangements assessments are carried out in line with the relevant examination requirements and regulations.
Before an assessment takes place, the educational establishment is responsible for providing the required information and evidence.
Form 8 must be completed by the educational establishment before the assessment takes place.
An assessment does not guarantee that a particular access arrangement will be approved or implemented. The final decision and responsibility remain with the school, college or examination centre, in line with the relevant examination regulations.
7. Specialist Teaching and Tutoring
Specialist teaching can be provided:
On a one-to-one basis, or
In small groups of up to four learners with similar areas of difficulty.
Sessions usually last one hour and take place weekly.
Teaching is tailored to the needs of the individual or group and follows a structured, multisensory and cumulative approach.
Where teaching is commissioned by a school, sessions will normally take place within the school setting. This allows learners to receive support in a familiar environment and helps to minimise disruption to their school day.
Every learner progresses differently. While specialist teaching is designed to provide appropriate and effective support, specific outcomes or rates of progress cannot be guaranteed.
8. Parent, School and Staff Support
Advice, consultations, training and professional support can be tailored to individual schools, parents or organisations.
Any recommendations or guidance provided are intended to support decision-making and good practice. Responsibility for implementing recommendations remains with the individual, parent/carer, school or organisation.
9. Information Provided
Relevant information may be requested before an assessment, teaching programme or other service begins.
This may include educational history, previous assessments, school information or other relevant documents.
It is important that the information provided is accurate and relevant. MB Dyslexia Specialist cannot be responsible for conclusions or recommendations being affected by information that has not been provided or is inaccurate.
10. Travel and Location
MB Dyslexia Specialist is based in Knowsley, Merseyside, and provides services across Merseyside and surrounding areas.
Travel within Merseyside is included in the agreed fee.
For services outside Merseyside, an additional travel charge may apply. Any additional costs will always be discussed and agreed before the booking is confirmed.
Services may take place in schools, homes, another agreed location, or online, where appropriate.
11. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Personal information will be handled sensitively and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
Information will only be collected and used where necessary to provide the agreed service and meet relevant professional or legal responsibilities.

12. Safeguarding
The welfare and safety of children and young people is important.
When working within a school or organisation, the relevant safeguarding procedures will be followed alongside professional safeguarding responsibilities.
Any safeguarding concerns will be dealt with appropriately and shared with the relevant safeguarding professional or organisation where necessary.
13. Professional Boundaries
MB Dyslexia Specialist provides specialist educational assessment, teaching, advice and support within the scope of professional training, qualifications and experience.
The services provided do not replace medical, psychological or other specialist support where this may be required.
Where appropriate, you may be advised to seek support from another suitably qualified professional.
14. Changes to These Terms
MB Dyslexia Specialist may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
The most recent version will be available on the website. Any important changes affecting an existing agreed service will be communicated where appropriate.
